LOTD: February 28th, 2014 (Graphic Cat Eye!)

First off, I'd just like to say how impressed I am with myself for being able to recreate this look and how happy I am with the results! This is definitely a look I plan to repeat/play with in the future!

Original Look

My Look-- Full Face

I can't even begin to tell you how in love I really am with this bold, graphic cat eye. The original is stunning and I would like to tell myself I didn't do a half bad job!

Brows: I did my brows fairly thick and fairly bold today to keep up with the eye. I used my usual MAC Folie eyeshadow to fill them in and brushed them into place with my Anastasia brow gel and highlighted them with my MAC Vanilla pigment.

Eyes: Okay, it was actually really easy to do this. I didn't get frustrated and it went smoothly! First, I took my MAC Pearl Glide liner in Black Swan and traced the shape I wanted and then I filled the entire thing in. From the Naked 2 palette, I patted Blackout on top of Black Swan to mattify the creamy liner and hope for extra staying power. Then I took my black gel liner from Smashbox and applied it on top of Black Swan and Blackout. On my lower lid, I applied the gel liner from inner corner to the outer edge of my eye and tried to flick that line out a little. On top of the gel liner, I patted more Blackout onto it for extra staying power and also applied the shadow to my waterline. If you're going to apply shadow to your waterline, be careful because some people's eyes react badly to it. I know for a fact some companies, like MAC Cosmetics, are not allowed to use this technique on customers in case their eyes react badly. And besides, it is an awful experience getting eyeshadow on your eyeball—trust me. I then tightlined my upper lid and lined my waterline with my MAC eyeliner pencil in Smolder. I finished off the look with my Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening Mascara; although false lashes would have looked wicked with this bold, graphic cat eye.

Face: Drum roll please...... I actually used a powder foundation on my face today. If you know me well, you know I hate foundation. I hate wearing stuff on my face—especially because I know I don't need it—, but I really wanted a matte look to my skin so I caved and used Revlon's Colorstay Aqua Mineral Finishing powder. I didn't hate it, that's all I have to say about that.

Cheeks: I contoured my cheeks with MAC's Pro Longwear blush in Baby Don't Go and then highlighted my cheek bones with MAC's Vanilla pigment.

Lips: I patted Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat all over my lips for staying power and then I used MAC's Viva Glam II lipstick.

Again, I can't tell you how much I absolutely love this look! I know the eye is very bold and I would love to hear what you guys have to say about it!

Xoxo,
Russian Red.
