I believe I own a total of 18 MAC lipsticks now (I told you, boarder-line crazy...) and the two that are behind the names are, if you haven't figured them out for yourself yet: Russian Red and Diva.
When I purchased Russian Red, I was looking for my first classic red lip. The iconic MAC Red and Ruby Woo lipsticks are stunning reds, but they have too much blue in them for me to wear. Yes, that's right, there are blue-reds, if you weren't aware (I know I wasn't!). So if you're one of those girls with fiery hair like me, STAY AWAY FROM BLUE REDS! Alas, one of the artists I love, Torrie, pointed me in the direction of Russian Red. And here we now are, with it serving as my pen name. Why? My boyfriend thought it was an awesome name to sign off with because I'm a red head and I totally agree with him!
As for Diva, damn is it ever a fierce color! I love it! When I bought Diva, it was because I went to Torrie telling her I really wanted to add a more wine colored lipstick to my collection. It still remains my only wine-y like lipstick, but I do plan to change that when I find another one I love! This color really looks stunning on anyone. The purple tones look great with my red hair, dark brunette hair with the dark lipstick would look gorgeous, and if you can rock the dark lip, you blondes should totally go for it! Tip: This color is a MUST for lip liner. You can not wear this color on it's own. I pair it with MAC's lip pencil in Burgundy. Now, on to the reason for naming this blog after it. Again, the boyfriend came up with the "Masked" part and I wanted to throw a lipstick in there. After all, when you put a face of makeup on, it's just like putting a mask on. And there are history lessons to back that up, too. I started going through all the lipsticks I own and when I got to Diva, the combination of the two really hit hard. Now, I wouldn't call myself a Diva, but that name struck me as strong and I loved it.
Now, here we are, and looks like those names stuck!
